What Is the Gay Lifestyle?
The so-called gay lifestyle is a myth. It's a term generally used pejoratively, and it should be avoided. It's a way of pigeon-holing a diverse group of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered persons into a limited group. No one would support the notion of the heterosexual lifestyle because we all know that there's no such a thing.
Heterosexual people come in all different shapes and forms. Some are engineers and teachers. Others are homemakers and doctors. Some spend their weekends working around the yard, visiting family and friends, going to the movies and theater. Some are active in their communities politically or through volunteerism. Others are more focused on their family life.
So, what is the heterosexual lifestyle? Each person chooses how they live, how they spend
their free time, how they engage in their family and community life. The same goes for
LGBT persons.
The same way we make lifestyle choices, so do our gay children.
